All about Glencadam

Whisky from Glencadam has a mature character with oily texture. 15 year old expression shouts out citrus. The other Whiskies in the range are generally creamy and delicate.

There are a lot of independent bottlings of Glencadam and if they are old they release very interesting aromas like cassis, bold black forest fruits.

All about Glencadam distillery

Glencadam distillery is located in the ancient Brechin, it is the only distillery in Angus county.

The first owner was George Cooper, who sold the distillery in 1827, to David Scott. Until 1954, the distillery experienced several takeovers, and in 1954 Hiram Walker bought the distillery and started a big modernization movement.

In 1987, Allied Lyons bought Hiram Walker & Sons. In 2000, under Allied Domecq supervision, the distillery was mothballed due to overproduction. They sold the distillery to Angus Dundee in 2003

Glencadam sources its water from the Barry Burn. There are two identical stills of 14,000 liter capacity. Glencadam uses unpeated industrial maltings, and the majority of casks are ex-Bourbon American casks.
