Cognac cubain.

La société a lancé le rhum Matusalem pour la première fois en 1872 à Santiago de Cuba, surnommé le « Cognac des rhums » . Mais après la prise de contrôle du pays par Castro, la famille productrice s'est exilée et, après de nombreuses années de troubles internes, la marque est aujourd'hui embouteillée à Monte Plata, en République dominicaine. Le nom Matusalem vient du proverbe espagnol « Esto es mas viejo que Matusalem » – ou « Il est plus vieux que Mathusalem » (un rhum presque immortel de 969 ans, tiré de l'Ancien Testament) .

Le rhum Matusalem Gran 15 Reserva est un assemblage de solera élaboré à partir de mélasse et vieilli pendant 15 ans en utilisant le système solera dans des fûts de chêne français.

Une texture douce et complexe, vanille en attaque, suivie de notes de chêne, de caramel, de banane et de cacao en bouche.

Finition
Finale rappelant le cognac. Une légère touche fruitée, un goût presque cerise mêlé à de subtiles notes boisées.

This is a great rum, especially for the price! Nose is wonderful. Finish is better than expected based on other reviews. You've got to be patient. It's not bold and lingering, but it's there. Very easy to drink. Good, sweet flavors. Vanilla, oak, heavy caramel to me. I really like this rum, neat is best in my opinion. If you want a sweeter, easy drinking rum without a bitter aftertaste, this is for you. Cheers! KP from NC

I have found this a bit bland....

I have found this a bit bland. The nose is promising, very vanilla, very caramel. Seems legit, structured and balanced. Seems well worth the price which is btw very low. In the mouth tho it is very underwhelming, almost like watered down. There is almost no aftertaste which one would expect when it comes to this age statement. I think if you are searching for something this bottle is promising, you will be better of with adding a few bucks and trying some expressions from Plantation
