The Glasgow Distillery Company is both old and new. There was a distillery by that name way back in the day — the 1800s, that is. But wars, depressions, prohibition, and other misfortunes led to it disappearing form history. But in 2014, the “founding partners” reopened a new version of the historic classic distillery in the heart of Glasgow. Their first releases are coming out just this year in 2019 to superlative reviews.

1770 Glasgow Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2019 Release is the very first release from this reborn distillery. And it has already collected an impressive amount of jewelry in the form of gold medals — including shiny gold medallions from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, The International Spirits Challenge, The Scotch Whisky Masters, and the International Whisky Competition.

It gets is flavor from the Single Malt, the water from Lock Katrine, and double-wood aging — first in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks, then finishing in virgin white oak. And you can taste it all because it’s bottled at a perfect 46% ABV.
