There are not many absolutes in life, but there is one that every Spirit-drinking human on Earth has heard of. The original of the originals: the Blue Label Absolut Vodka.
The world-famous Swedish Spirit producer Absolut is located near Åhus village in southern Sweden. Established in 1879, it was introduced to the global market only in 1979 when it was launched in New York. Their transparent, simple bottle is inspired by an 18th century medicine bottle and it is the embodiment of the Scandinavian simple and cool style. Not one to get stuck in the past, Absolut is also very environmentally conscious (I mean, this is Scandinavia after all.), practicing a One Source production philosophy. The water and winter wheat are sourced exclusively from the Åhus village. The distillation process is carbon neutral and Absolut bottles are made from 40% recycled glass. A concept we can absolutely get behind.
The original Blue Label Vodka is made from only natural ingredients, including fresh spring water and Swedish winter wheat. The sweetness of wheat accounts for its unique character, which hasn't changed since the beginning. And that's a good thing, since its simple, but bold taste is so universal it can be enjoyed on its own or in any other way you could think of. Some soda water, lime juice and some lime slices and you get the perfect Absolut Vodka Soda. Or, mix it in a Bloody Mary, White Russian, Vodka Martini, Espresso Martini... You know the drill.
Smartass Corner:
In 1985, Absolut launched a collaboration with Andy Warhol, the Absolut Warhol. It was the first in a long line of collaborations with artists and there are over 860 Absolut art pieces at a museum in Stockholm.
