Cradled between the Alps and Munich, there’s a picturesque lake Schliersee. Around it, lavish forests burst with botanicals and herbs. A distillery that has been making various Spirits since 1929 ventured into Vodka in 2012 and Gin in 2014. Brennmeister Tobias Maier found an old recipe and created Bavarka Gin, using ten local botanicals. Since the base Spirit is Vodka, this Gin is proudly potato-powered.
Although this curious Spirit contains hops, fennel seeds and other nifty plants, it’s very citrus-forward with lovely waves of juniper and pine. This bottle from the heart of Germany is perfect for Alpine winters as its herbal character and citrus freshness bring warmness and a memory of summer. Which doesn’t mean you can’t drink this by a pool with Tonic and a fancy tiny umbrella.

About
