Located in the South-West of France at the foothills of the age-old Black Mountain range, Black Mountain Whisky Company sources the finest Scotch Whiskies, cuts them with the pristine Black Mountain water and ages the blends in the most prestigious old casks of the South-West of France, like Armagnac. Head of Mao Spirits, Stephan Mao, is responsible for aging the Whisky in his Gers distillery. Black Mountain Notes Fumées Blended Whisky is not your usual intensely peaty Whisky. Instead, it takes a more complex and subtle approach to the peat. Starting with two blended Whiskies distilled in the United Kingdom, one is fruity and the other one peaty. Cut with water from the Black Mountain range, both are refined in Armagnac casks for at least 2 months. This is not your average peat classic – expect a soft, smoky nose with many layers of floral notes, wood, spices, mineral flavors, citrus, sweet fruit and vanilla that continue and evolve on the very floral palate. The smoke is there, but it’s soft and it stays in the background.
