The classic palate of Bombay Sapphire has been the backbone of premium cocktails for three decades and we’re darned glad about it.

Bombay Sapphire is one of the best known and most popular Gins in the world. It was created in 1986 by International Distillers & Vintners which was part of the mega-merger that created Diageo. Diageo sold the brand to Bacardi in 1997 where it has been raised to flagship status. The entire line of Gins is still produced in England by the famous G&J Greenall — long makers of some of the world’s best Gins — in a new, purpose-built facility and visitor center in Whitchurch, Hampshire.

As we’ve said, Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin in its signature sky-blue bottle is simply iconic. The Spirit is distilled three times in a classic Carterhead still — the kind with a botanical basket on top that has been used to infuse the best Gin Spirits for more than one hundred years. This is the "London Dry" process famous around the world. There are ten botanicals, including juniper berries, almond, lemon zest, licorice, orris root, angelica, coriander, cassia, cubeb, and grains of paradise.

Smartass Corner:
The "Star of Bombay" is a 182 carat cabochon-cut star sapphire mined in Sri Lanka. It was given to the silent film star Mary Pickford by her husband Douglas Fairbanks. She bequeathed it to the Smithsonian Institution where it’s on display. The Gin is named for the gemstone.
