Cardhu Special Cask Reserve

John Cumming was one of the rare Whisky smugglers that successfully transitioned to legal operation when the oppressive tax and production laws were eased. Thus, Cardhu was born in 1824. The word Cardhu comes from the Gaelic "Carn Dubh," which means "black rock." This is definitely one of the best located distilleries in Speyside, high on the hills on the north side of Spey Valley with breathtaking views to the south.

You may know Cardhu as one of the signature core malts of Johnny Walker, but it was a single malt long before the blenders got their hands on it. Luckily it's been restored to its former delectable single malt glory where it is pleasing customers and winning awards once again. Ordinary in a blend, special on its own, we say. This is great news, because Cardhu is a brand with a rich history and tradition, one which every Whisky aficionado should experience.

The Cardhu Special Cask Reserve features Whisky from “very old oak casks” bottled at 40% ABV. This dram is richer and fuller than the flagship 12 YO and tremendously well received with the fans of the brand, since it also bears a huge amount of personality. It’s polished and easy-going, offers excellent value and it’s a Whisky you’ll easily enjoy as your everyday dram. Every day may not be special, but there can be something special in every day.
