The core, signature Cognac from the makers of Napoleon’s favorite dram.

Courvoisier… few brand names are as synonymous with prestige and quality. The name has seeped into our culture. It has appeared in Woody Allen and James Bond films, been rapped about by Busta Rhymes and Ice Cube, been hailed by Stevie Nicks, and appeared in hundreds of TV shows. That’s quite a pop-culture resume. But they earned their place in history. Founded in 1809 by Emmanuel Courvoisier, the company — now owned by Beam Suntory — has been making Cognac and only Cognac for more than 200 years.

Courvoisier VS Cognac is the mainstay of the Courvoisier line of fine French Cognacs. Courvoisier produces more than two-hundred million bottles of Cognac each year, and the vast majority of that is the storied VS. It is a blend of Cognac Crus aged between three and seven years. Most of the grape used is from Fins Bois with a good "balancing" amount of Petite Champaign. It is the go-to for daily drammers and craft cocktail bartenders around the world.

Smartass Corner:
Courvoisier is called "The Cognac of Napoleon" for good reason. During his military campaigns he met Emmanuel Courvoisier and ordered that his artillery men be given a daily ration. Then, upon his final exile to the Island of Saint Helena, he took several barrels of Courvoisier along with him, choosing it over Hennessy, Cristal, and Remy.
