Childhood decadence wrapped in an adult package at 30% ABV.
Petrus De Kuyper founded his company in the Netherlands in 1695 as a cooperage — a maker of finished barrels for Spirits manufacturers. By 1752 they had expanded into making their own Spirits with a private, family-owned distillery in the town of Schiedam. They built their business well, expanding across Europe, into Canada, and then in the United States after Prohibition by contracting distillation and licensing production of their wide array of famous cocktail mixers and ingredients. Simply stated, their huge array of products virtually define modern cocktail making.
Who doesn’t love butterscotch? Off the top of our heads we can think of about two dozen cocktails that are made with Butterscotch Liqueur. De Kuyper Butterscotch Liqueur is the most loved by crafty cocktail makers and bartenders everywhere. It starts with their base Schnapps Spirit infused with all the rich flavors that we loved as kids ourselves, but in an adult package of 30% ABV.
Smartass Corner:
The first known recipe for butterscotch appeared in Yorkshire, England, in the mid-1900s. Made from pure butter, natural sugars, a bit of vanilla, and other customizations to taste, it is a confection that occupies a kind of middle ground between caramel and toffee.
