A tropical vanilla bomb aged Rum from the other side of the world.
Near the northern tip of Madagascar there is a natural bay facing west toward Mozambique. In the bay is the large island of Nosy Be — a tropical island with sandy beaches and palm trees waving in the breeze. Dzama Rum was founded there in 1980 by Lucien Fohine. Lucian was running a Scotch bottling business there, importing full casks of finished Chivas Brothers Whisky and bottling them for the islands. He discovered that he had all those empty Whisky casks and an island full of local sugarcane. What you have done? He purchased a column still and created a wide range of premium Madagascar Rum.
The lovely square bottle of Dzama Cuvee Noire Prestige holds Spirit derived from locally-grown sugarcane which is grown alongside ylang-ylang vines, vanilla plants, clove, citrus, and other exotic plants which influence the flavors. The Spirit is aged three full years in the tropical climate of Nosy Be. The water used is exceptionally pure, having been filtered five times for absolute neutrality and has no artificial colors or flavors to let the true Spirit shine. And what a Spirit it is. It was chosen as one of the top fifty aged Rums in the US.
Smartass Corner:
Malagasy is the official language of Madagascar. "Nosy Be" means "Big Island" in the local dialect.
