Glasgow 1770 Peated Rich & Smoky Scotch Whisky

A rich and smoky Lowland Single Malt aged in virgin oak and finished in PX casks.

The original Glasgow Distillery Company operated from 1770 through about 1902, falling to the great Whisky recession that saw many a distillery shutter their doors. The current iteration was founded in 2012 by Liam Hughes, Ian McDougall, and Mike Hayward with production beginning in 2014. They have expanded to produce a wide range of Spirits from Single Malts to Gin and everything in between. And they recently received financing to expand production even further and bring their products to Asia and North America.

The Glasgow 1770 range of Single Malts is the pride and joy of Glasgow Distillery Company. It gets its name from the year the original distillery was founded.

Glasgow 1770 Peated is their rich and smoky expression of this signature dram. It is their signature Single Malt gently smoked over heather peat. It’s rather unique these days for Scottish Single Malts to be aged in virgin oak, but that’s exactly what they do, before finishing it in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks and bottling it at a perfect 46% ABV.
