The signature Janneau style.
Did you know that Armagnac is the oldest French Spirit? First records date back to 1310 when the meeting of three cultures: Roman, Celt, and Arabic gave birth to the faine Spirit. Maison Janneau was founded under the reign of Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte by Pierre-Etienne Janneau and Joseph Dubourdieu and the company stayed in the family’s hands for generations. Always blending their Armagnacs from the best Eaux-de-vie in the region, they managed to stay on top of the Armagnac game. the company changed several hands in the 20th century from the House of Martell and the Italian Giovinetti and Figli Spa and it was most recently acquired by The Spirit France Group in 2014.
Janneau VSOP is crafted from Baco, Ugni Blanc, and Folle Blanche varieties. Some of the Eaux-de-vie in this blend were aged for up to 20 years in French oak casks down in Janneau’s ancient cellars. This offering that comes in the famed Basquaise bottle really embodies their signature style with all the refined notes of toasted golden raisins, spices, and fruity jelly on the elegant palate. No wonder it won Gold at the 2016 and Silver at the 2016 and 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competitions, respectively.
