A unique Spirit added to the famous Blue Label blend.
Johnnie Walker is one of the most recognized Whisky names in the World. The brand was established in 1860 by John “Johnnie” Walker, when he started blending Whiskies from his grocery shop in Ayrshire, Scotland. During the Victorian Era, success came when his son Alexander exported around the British Empire, establishing the Whisky early as one of the first truly global brands.
Today, Johnnie Walker’s famous square-shaped bottle—with the label set at a jaunty 24 degrees—is THE most popular blended Whisky in the world, selling more than 130 million bottles per year in nearly every country on the planet across their wide range of ages, special editions, and finishes.
If you’re a fan of Scotch Whisky, there’s no need to tell you about Johnnie Walker. And you also know that their Blue Label is the top of the line. Well, starting in 2017 Johnnie Walker started issuing special limited edition “Ghost and Rare” version of their Blue Label flagship. The idea is to include special whiskies from exceptionally rare casks (Rare) and closed Distilleries (Ghost) that are not producing any more. Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Port Glenury Royal is the release for 2019 — including rare Whiskies from Glen Elgin, Inchgower, Glenlossie, Cameron Bridge, and Glenkinchie and some of the few remaining casks of Glenury Royal and two other ghost distilleries. Each bottle of this limited edition with be individually numbered.
Smartass corner:
Glenury Royal Distillery was founded in 1825 by Captain Robert Barclay Allardice who — in addition to being a distiller — was a professional boxer and gambler who famously won a bet by walking 1,000 miles in 1,000 hours to win 1,000 guineas. The distillery closed in 1985.
