A lovely annual limited edition Islay Single Malt aged in Oloroso Sherry casks that tastes like a summer evening.

The Kilchoman Distillery is unique for several reasons. It is the first new distillery on Islay in over 125 years. It's one of only six Scotch distilleries to carry out traditional floor maltings, and one of only two to do the malting, distilling, maturing, and bottling on site. Furthermore, they even grow 30% of their Barley right there on the farm. It was started in 2005 by Anthony Wills, who ran an independent single cask bottling company for 8 years before this and is obsessed with building the ultimate farm distillery where he can take Whisky back to its roots.

Kilchoman Loch Gorm is a limited edition annual release. Each year their master blender goes into the warehouses and selects an amazing array of Sherried Single Malt casks and marries then into Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Then they are bottled at a perfect 46% ABV without artificial coloring. There is no age statement because that would be impossible with a blend like this. But we’ve seen editions where the youngest Whisky is five years-old and the oldest is twelve years-old. The flavor profile is smoky and sweet and rich… like sipping a Macallan at a Kansas City smokehouse BBQ.

Appearance / Color
Warm Mahogany

Nose / Aroma / Smell
The aroma is layered and richly decadent with notes of granola, baking spices, sultanas, and zest over a bed of peat smoke.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The flavor profile is equally sweet and savory with the flavors of warm toffee, rancio, Brandied cherry, brisket, orange zest, and agave nectar.

Finish
The finish is long and flavor packed with English toffee autumnal fruits.

Great nose! Lots of toffee, candied bacon and peat up front with some medicinal qualities underneath. Palate has some salt and sweetness before becoming enveloped in peat smoke. Finish lingers with some slight bitterness. Very interesting
