The ultimate Aperitif!
Lillet Blanc is a fortified, aromatized Wine from the
Bordeux region in
France. It is a blend of rigorously selected Bordeaux region Wines, fruits, herbs and macerated Liqueurs, which are handcrafted on site. During the aging process, Lillet is handled as attentively as any great Wine from the region.
In
1887, Pierre and Raymond Lillet created
Kina Lillet, the drink that conquered New York high society as an essential ingredient for many fashionable cocktails. In the mid-1980s, the Lillet producers removed the defining bitter quinine from the blend and voila, a new star was born -
Lillet Blanc.
Lillet Blanc is a refreshing straight sipper. Should be served well chilled and zest with a slice of orange or lime. It can replace Vermouth as a
cocktail ingredient. An evergreen character to the finish assures you this is not a strict dessert Wine.
A true all-rounder!
Smartass Corner:
Lillet blanc is the key ingredient in James Bond's Martini derivative, the Vesper, a drink created in deference to the beautiful double agent in Ian Fleming's Casino Royale.
