What 15 years on the island of Islay do to the flavor profile.
You know we love a good heritage story, especially if it’s about one of Scotland’s oldest Whisky families. Spanning through generations of Whisky brokers, blenders, bottlers and distillers, this one takes place on the island of Islay. William Walker worked with Islay distillers in the early 20th century and eventually moved to the island. Stanley P. Morrison started working as a trainee Whisky broker in Walker’s company and married his daughter Elizabeth. Besides opening up his own brokerage, Stanley also bought Bowmore, Islay’s oldest distillery. Then, under W. Brian Morrison, Morrison Bowmore became a global brand and it was eventually purchased by Suntory. Today, it’s Jamie and Brian Morrison that own and head Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers that produce several high-end brands. With Mac-Talla, you can travel across the island and taste the great Islay depth of flavors.
Mac-Talla Strata is the result of a long waiting game. There’s no shortcuts in this one; it was aged with patience for 15 long years in Bourbon and Sherry casks. The result is complex, rich, and layered with a velvety palate of earthy peat and winter spices. Non-chill filtered and with no added color, this Whisky is as true to its roots as the rocks under Islay. Wait, what? Anyway, savor this beauty neat or add a few drops of water to open it up.
