Buffalo Trace Distillery, situated in Frankfort, KY, is the oldest continuously operating Spirit-making establishment in the United States. Distilling started back in 1775 by the Lee Brothers, and it was allowed to stay open during Prohibition to produce “medicinal Whiskey.” We know; them lucky doctors. Now, the story behind the name revolves around the McAfee brothers who explored the uncharted lands that would become Kentucky. They followed an ancient native trail and stumbled upon a beautiful buffalo crossing. That spot eventually became the Buffalo Trace Distillery, and the surveyor marks - or benchmarks - are still there.

McAfee’s Benchmark Old No. 8 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey honors the adventurous pioneers with an award-winning juice. Eight years of maturing gave it an incredible aroma and a complex palate. It’s very easy to drink and its smoothness makes it a perfect daily sipper. Being more of an entry-level Bourbon doesn’t mean it can’t be fantastic neat or on rocks, and if you add it to your cocktail, you’ll have a winning tipple.
