Old Pulteney 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

If you look at a map of Scotland, there is a tiny point at the top; that’s where the wee towns of Wick and Pulteneytown are located and where Old Pulteney Distillery has been calling home since 1826. It was established in the name of Sir William Pulteney, an influential Scottish landowner and politician. The distillers loved the location, too, as the only way in or out was by boat, which inconvenienced many a zealous exciseman. They had to mothball the distillery in 1930 when the local parish decided a prohibition would be a grand idea, but people, fortunately, came to their senses and re-opened the establishment in 1951. Today, it's owned by Inver House Distillers (Knockdhu, Speyburn, etc.).

Old Pulteney 12 Years Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the definitive expression of the old distillery, using traditional methods other Whisky-makers have given up on long ago. The amber Maritime Malt bets on a sweet and briny profile with lavish vanilla and citrus notes. It got them from spending dozen years in cherry-picked ex-Bourbon casks in the cool and cloudy climate of the Scottish Highlands.
