The Hot Gin.

Greenall’s is still one of the top Gin producers in England, they make a wide variety of Gins and other distilled Spirits, and have been doing so since… geeze… since Methuselah wore diapers (1760). That’s more than 250 years of Gin-making know-how. Greenall’s is a part of the De Vere group and is a major contract distiller for Quintessential Brands, which owns a ton of Spirit brands, far too many to list here. What matters is that one of those brands includes…

Opihr Oriental Spiced London Dry Gin is the salsa of Gin — a 40% ABV lemon-pepper bomb going off next to a pine tree during Sunday dinner in Mumbai… in a glass! So, is that good? Well, yes, but don’t come knocking at this door unless you want something different. If you are in the mood for a buttoned-up shirt and bowler hat, this is not the Gin for you. But if you have a hidden wild side, or if you are secretly wearing red-striped boxer shorts under that three-piece suit, then welcome to the party

Opihr is different. So let’s set this table of infused botanicals… cubeb berries from Malaysia, tellicherry black peppercorns from India, Turkish cumin, coriander from Morocco, Italian juniper, and orange zest from Spain. Make no mistake… this is NOT a manhood-testing pain-fest. It’s as much of a London Dry Gin as any, but with a different attitude.

Aroma and head is peppercorn that reminds me of toasted cumin that is followed by a citrus after taste. The body sips smooth though the after taste is pungent-- very much like a London Dry Gin.
