Roaring revival of a Dubliner legend

The Teeling Whiskey distillery is a relatively new kid on the block. When they opened up shop in the heart of Ireland’s capital in 2015, they were the first new Spirit maker in Dublin for over 125 years. But don’t be fooled by their age: the founders, Jack and Stephen Teeling, come from a prominent and ancient line of distillers. The place where the new Teeling distillery stands used to belong to Walter Teeling who established his own production back in 1782. Now, the industrious siblings receive awards left and right. Their main product is, as the name of the company reveals, Irish Whiskey, but they wanted to honor the legendary Spirit of Eire – the Poitin, so their first release is a fantastic revival.

Once-illegal Poitin is usually made from wheat, potatoes, whey and other stuff. This particular Dubliner is 50% unmalted and 50% malted barley. It’s distilled thrice in three copper pots, boasting with smoothness and bravado. Poitin will be the base of all Teeling Whiskey as well, and the founders recommend you enjoy this unique and traditional white Irish Spirit on rocks and a splash of top-notch tonic. Oh, almost forgot: this bad boy already won two golds!
