A gorgeous Dalmore Single Malt finished in Tawny Port casks from W&J Graham's.

Alexander Matheson, a trader who made his fortune in illegal opium imports from the Far East, founded The Dalmore Distillery in 1839. The Dalmore changed owners many times throughout the years, with Clan Mackenzie being in control the longest. They are in the Northern Highlands, halfway between Inverness and Tain. All of Dalmore’s core Whiskies start in ex-Bourbon barrels. What sets them apart is the finishing and consistent experimentation with wood. Each of their releases is treated to a special maturation and finishing prized by Scotch-lovers world wide.

W&J Graham's has been making the finest Port Wines for more than two hundred years. Dalmore has maintained a close relationship with this vintner because… well, Tawny Port Wine casks work magic on Highland Single Malt. The Dalmore Port Wood Reserve is the third collaboration between the two and it is simply magical. The Dalmore Single Malt starts in ex-Bourbon casks and then is allowed to luxuriate in those decadent Port casks before being bottled at a PERFECT 46.5% ABV. This is truly a gorgeous dram.

Smartass Corner:
The story of the famous Dalmore stag icon on the bottles goes back to 1263 when Scottish King Alexander the Third was attacked by stag. He was saved by the chief of Clan Mackenzie with a single arrow.

The finish is long, warm, and decadent.
