Torres 15 Reserva Privada (1L)

Once named the Best Solera Brandy in the world, it's still pretty darn amazing.

Jaime and Miguel Torres started The Familia Torres company in 1870 in Barcelona and at first, the place was a premium winery. It seems like Wine-making was in their DNA as the familia had been growing grapes for 100 years before that. Then, in 1928, the second generation of the Torres family began using the best white Wines that Penedès had to offer to age Brandy in oak barrels. Unfortunately, the road had some minor hiccups in store for them as the whole world wasn't doing so great at the time with all the WWs and the Spanish Civil War. But the House of Torres made it through that, too, and nowadays, they're known as the finest Brandy producer in the region.

Now, "the best" is a strong word but Torres 15 Reserva Privada Brandy was really named the Best Solera Brandy in the World at the 2017 World Brandy Awards. And we can totally see why – this is a modern, sophisticated, and classy Brandy that seduces you on the spot with its smoother-than-butter palate and enticing nose of caramel, vanilla, and dates. The dram was aged in American oak barrels the Solera way – a typical Brandy aging method where older reserves get to hang out with younger liquids and pass on some of the wisdom. This puts the average age of Brandies in this precious bottle at 15.
