A Whisky marriage made in heaven.

Compass Box isn’t a distillery or a distributor. Compass Box is a story. It’s a story that began in the year 2000 when John Glaser — a marketing director for Johnnie Walker decided to break out on his own. It takes a lot of whisky stones to step out of a dream job with Whisky perks and start a business like this. John buys bulk output from some of the best distilleries in Scotland and then creates custom blends which he finishes and ages to create unique Whisky expressions.

Some Scotch Whisky blends have dozens of Whiskies in the mix. The argument is that this diversity of spirit ingredients brings consistency and complexity to the final product. Compass Box has delivered a counter-argument in the form of Compass Box The Double Single. This Scotch blend is a combination of two Whiskies — it’s 72% 19 year-old Glen Elgin Single malt and 28% Single Grain from Girvan bottled at a perfect 46% ABV. It seems that if you pick two of the best Whiskies you get plenty of complexity and tasty goodness… and recognition by The Whisky Bible as the 2018 Scotch Blend of the Year to boot.
